This week, I’m excited to share my review of the JC Newman Yagua Toro, a truly unique cigar that’s sure to intrigue. Created in collaboration with Lazaro Lopez, manager of JC Newman’s Nicaraguan factory, this cigar pays tribute to Lazaro’s grandfather’s traditional Cuban cigar-making techniques.

The Yagua Toro boasts a USA Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and Nicaraguan filler. What sets it apart is its distinctive 4-step manufacturing process. The bunch is first rolled into a cylinder, then pressed into a mold to achieve a more cylindrical shape. The wrapper is applied after the cigar has taken shape, and finally, the cigar is aged and adorned with a royal palm leaf wrapper.

Now, let’s get to the good stuff! Lighting up the Yagua Toro, I was greeted with initial notes of pepper, earth, and a hint of sweetness on the finish. As the smoke progressed, the pepper intensified, accompanied by hints of baking spice and subtle cocoa notes.

Around the halfway mark, the flavor profile shifted, introducing hints of sunflower seeds and a delicate floral note. A subtle red pepper flavor also emerged, leaving a pleasant tingle on my palate.

Throughout the smoke, the Yagua Toro maintained a medium body, with the pepper gradually fading into more earthy notes towards the finish.

Overall, the JC Newman Yagua Toro is a standout cigar that’s sure to appeal to those seeking a unique flavor experience.
