This week I am reviewing Nova Platinum Cigars Platinum Batch Nicaragua in the Toro Size. Nova is a new brand to our humidor and so far is doing well, however we need to officially introduce you to this brand! Nova Platinum cigars are headed by Leonor Abzradel and is a brand that has really taken off over the last few years with industry-wide recognition. Leonor’s grandfather was a master blender so this brand was birthed as a tribute to her grandfather to honor his legacy and to put into practice what he taught about how to make a quality premium cigar. Let’s light this up and see where this journey takes us!
Upon lighting and taking the first Puff I noticed a sweet but earthy profile. A combination of a sweet and creamy note. As I kept smoking a little bit of red and black pepper entered the mix of notes that I started to taste. As I kept smoking I got hints of graham crackers and the smoke got a little bit spicy and a little more peppery. I couldn’t make out what kind of pepper, it just suddenly became a pepper bomb!
At about the halfway point it mellowed out and got a little more sweet again. This cigar has been enjoyable so far and has been a solid medium bodied smoke. Throughout the rest of the smoking experience I got some more sweetness in the tobacco and the flavor was pretty smooth until the end. I also didn’t get any bitterness while smoking this either!
I would highly recommend that you come in and give this a try If you are looking for something new to smoke. It isn’t a boring cigar and it will satisfy your palate’s need for a good cigar! Ask about it next time you are in the shop!
