This week I lit up the new La Aroma de Cuba Small Batch—a once-a-year release limited to just 2,000 boxes of 24. The tobacco is grown on Don Pepin Garcia’s farm and aged for five years, wrapped in a high-priming Ecuadorian Habano leaf. Let’s see how this cigar performs.
Right from the first light, I was met with a bold blast of espresso and dark cocoa. As the smoke settled in, cedar notes emerged and carried on for a good portion of the experience. While retrohaling, I picked up the company’s described flavor nuances, but also detected a distinct hint of graham cracker.
A little past the first quarter, black pepper began to show up, gradually becoming more pronounced as the smoke progressed, eventually shifting into a red pepper character. I’d classify the profile as medium- to full-bodied, and the burn remained consistent throughout.
The finish wasn’t bitter; instead, it wrapped up with a subtle espresso bean note—standing apart from the flavors that came before it.
We have limited quantities available, and this one is absolutely worth trying. Ask about the La Aroma de Cuba Small Batch next time you’re in!
