This week I am smoking The Powstanie Habano Corona Gorda in Honor of Next week’s Powstanie Event.
This is a brand that I have been smoking for quite a while and wanted our Smoke Rings 72 customer base to get to know this line like I know and enjoy it.
I personally enjoy the Habano Blend especially in a smaller size like the Corona Gorda because you get more flavor when you are smoking it. Upon lighting up this cigar I started to taste some very nice black pepper notes along with some cedar and a hint of sweetness in the background.
After about a quarter into the smoke I still got some of the same flavor notes however there was a slight floral note added when I retrohale. I am also getting an earthy note with a little bit of caramel and molasses flavor notes. This is a solid medium bodied cigar throughout the entire smoke and the combination of all of the flavors that I am getting makes it phenomenal.
At around the halfway point I started to taste some hickory notes and more of a charred flavor note that reminded me of a charred burger. After those flavors passed I got some hints of cinnamon and notes that reminded me of baking spices. I also tasted a small amount of red pepper which added a different flare to the smoke. The flavors remained the same pretty much until the end. I didn’t get any bitterness while smoking and it remained an excellent smoke all the way through!
Mike Szczepankiewicz, the owner and founder will be in the shop next week on January 25th for a Powstanie Cut and Light! There will be food, cigar deals and raffles and you get to meet the man himself behind this brand.
Come in and ask about Powstanie and see what this smoke is all about!
Check out next week’s Shirtless Mike’s cigar of the week!
