This week I am going to be reviewing a new cigar that we brought in from Cordoba Y Morales called Empire.
“Z” made this cigar for a shop up in New York and now he’s also selling it down here as well. If you have been around Smoke Rings for any length of time you have likely met Z and have attended one of our events where he was rolling cigars. Cordoba y Morales has been around for quite some time and Z has developed a national following with his boutique brand, so it’s safe to say that this new Empire Cigar and the quality it brings will be no different!
Side note; I did smoke this cigar previously so this will be my second time with this cigar so hopefully I am a little more familiar and can pick out other flavor notes that I didn’t recognize the first time around.
Let’s light up and get the review started! Upon taking my first puff I noticed that it isn’t a powerhouse, it is noticeably smooth. I then started to get some sweet caramel and cinnamon flavor notes, which then transitioned into graham cracker notes. I also started to get a little bit of spice and red pepper. This cigar is burning phenomenally. I thought the cigar would start to increase in strength but it remained consistent. It is a smooth, easy to smoke cigar.
At around the halfway point I tasted hints of cedar and a little bit of leather with hints of cocoa on the back end. Towards the end I got some hints of sunflower seed and it tasted kind of minerally. I also didn’t get any bitterness in the end.
Take note this cigar is boxed pressed and built solidly. It’s already selling great so it’s safe to say that you definitely need to get here and ask about the Cordoba y Morales Empire next time you come in!
Check out next week’s Shirtless Mike’s cigar of the week!
