This week I’m reviewing ” My Father Blue Toro”, also known around here as “Can’t Keep It on the Shelf!” — and for good reason. This cigar marks a milestone as the very first release from the new My Father Cigars factory in El Paraíso, Honduras. The Honduran tobaccos come from La Opulencia, the García family’s first farm in Honduras, located in Talanga.

Now that the backstory’s covered, let’s get into what this cigar is all about.

Right from the first puff, the Blue Toro hits with a clean white pepper note — not overpowering, but enough to grab your attention. That pepper quickly settles into a mix of earthy tones with a subtle sweetness lingering in the background.

As the first third burns through, the flavor takes on a pungent richness — not in a bad way, but as a natural transition that blends earthy depth with faint sweet undertones. That soon morphs into a light citrus note, giving it an interesting twist.

Strength-wise, it stays comfortably in the mild-to-medium range — smooth, balanced, and easy to enjoy. Around the halfway mark, the pepper intensity ramps up briefly before mellowing out again. The construction deserves props too — the ash held strong, only needing to be tapped off a couple of times.

In the final stretch, that pungency returns for a moment before finishing off with another wave of pepper. The cigar closes out cleanly — no bitterness, just a satisfying and well-rounded finish.

We’re well-stocked for now, but these have been flying off the shelves. Stop by Smoke Rings 72 and grab a My Father Blue Toro before they disappear again!
