From Halfwheel:
“Wojtek is a referiere to a Syrian brown bear that was purchased by the Polish soldiers at a railway station in Hamadan, Iran. The bear was trained to help move crates of ammunition during World War II, and even enlisted as a soldier to arrange for his food and transportation. The bear was eventually promoted to the rank of corporal, and after the war, became a bit of a celebrity.”
This week I am reviewing Powstanie’s War Bear 2023 which is a boxed pressed corona cigar.
When My friend Mike, one of the Powstanie owners contacted Me and Lou about carrying it I knew that we had to have it because it is a yearly release and we needed it to complete the Powstanie portfolio in our humidor! Like all of Powstanie’s cigars they are made at Nica Sueno in Nicaragua by the makers of Roma Craft Tobac. With that being said let’s dive into this 2023 War Bear!
Upon lighting up I tasted some earth and citrus notes mixed in with a little bit of creamy flavor. I then tasted light peppery notes after a few minutes of smoking. The cigar started burning unevenly but it is my fault because I am smoking at work and multi-tasking. However it corrected itself pretty quickly which is a great sign. I also started to taste some spice with a little bit of graham cracker and even a little bit of leather.
This cigar ends with more spicy notes such as red pepper and baking spice and even a bit of cocoa notes with savory notes in the background. This cigar is definitely a must smoke, it falls in the medium bodied range and we only have a few boxes so hurry and try it before it’s gone! Come in and ask today!
