Cohiba Blue Robusto
Wrapper: Honduran Habano
Binder: Honduran Habano
Filler: Nicaraguan, Dominican and Honduran
This week I am reviewing the Cohiba Blue Robusto. We recently brought this into the store and it’s been a while since I’ve smoked one so I decided to smoke one to see how it is.
Upon lighting it and taking the first puff I got a lot of citrus notes along with earth and a sweet creamy note mixed in. Regrettably there is also a tangy bitterness on the tongue while smoking it. After a little while the bitterness went away somewhat and I began to get some black pepper notes which eventually got a little stronger and made the smoking experience much better.
After a little while of smoking I also got a slight hint of notes that reminded me of cheddar popcorn (I know it sounds ridiculous). I don’t want to be a reviewer that says outlandish things that he thinks he gets but that is what this portion of the cigar reminds me of!
Towards the end of the cigar the cheddar notes started to fade and I started to taste some hints of espresso and a little bit of sweet notes which reminded me of molasses.
The bitterness has not returned and it turned out to be a pretty enjoyable medium bodied cigar when I originally thought I wouldn’t enjoy it. Sometimes you just have to move past your preconceived ideas and give a cigar a chance to speak to you! Who knows you might actually like it!
