Rock A Feller Cigars Nicaraguan Habano Robusto
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Ecuadorian
Filler: 3x Ometepe, Esteli, Jalapa
Last week my good friend Kevin Sweitzer, the owner of Rock A Feller Cigars, came to the shop to hang out before heading to NY and we had a chance to push a few of his cigars, so this week I decided to review his Habano blend so that you can see why you need to come in and try it!
When I first lit up this cigar I got some sweet graham cracker notes with small hints of pepper and coffee right from the first few puffs. Once the pepper subsided I started to taste some cedar notes with a little bit of citrus in the background with coffee on the finish. This cigar is pretty mild for a Habano blend which means that it can be enjoyed any time of the day by any level of smoker.
This is one of those rare universal cigars. After the first inch I started to taste some cinnamon notes which I feel opened up the smoke a little bit and then I was met with more creamy and coffee flavor notes. The draw was a little tight so I used a cigar poker to open it up a little and the draw improved greatly. Draw issues are not too common with this cigar but like any other handmade product this is an issue that can come up from time to time regardless of the brand or factory it was made.
At about the halfway point after smoking it for a while I still tasted cinnamon in the background but also still tasted coffee notes primarily but I also started to taste hints of baking spice. The strength level still remains the same, there have been some good transitions however it still isn’t an overly complex cigar.
If you are newer to cigars and need something not intimidating or if you are a smoking veteran and prefer a milder cigar then I definitely recommend this cigar to you. Especially if you want to try something new! Next time you come in ask about Rock A Feller cigars You won’t be disappointed!
