We have recently got an influx of new products in the store and during the past few weeks I have been working on other side projects relating to social media and our Father’s day event, so here I am back with another review for you to enjoy!

I will be smoking Drew Estate’s Undercrown 10 which is a celebratory cigar celebrating the undercrown cigar which has been highly popular within the Drew Estate portfolio.

The undercrown was birthed because at the Drew Estate factory they have an open humidor policy where the rollers can smoke whatever they like, this was around the time of Liga Privada being birthed and supply started to become an issue so the production team had to request that they stop smoking Liga Privadas, the solution? Create their own blend for smoking on the production floor with quality tobacco but different less expensive tobaccos that are just as good as the tobaccos used for Liga Privada that they can freely smoke while working.

It became such a hit that Drew Estate rolled it out into regular production in order to honor their workers and pay tribute to their ingenuity. Undercrown became a massive success for the company. 10 Years later they decided to tweak the blend and celebrate 10 years of undercrown and introduce it to a whole new cigar smoking audience! Undercrown 10 comes packaged in similar Blue and Gold colored bands with a foot band added and a ribbon added to the head of the cigar signifying the slogan “All Deck’d out” to separate itself from the original under crown release. Enough of the history of this cigar! Let’s get into it and give you what you came here for!

As I lit it up and took my first few puffs I tasted a few different notes. The background was earthy and leathery and in the forefront I got some black pepper and a hint of dried fruit on the finish. These notes then morphed into an espresso note with a little bit of dark cocoa along with notes of Cinnamon and raisins. After about a quarter into smoking the strength picked up dramatically and black pepper became the main note that I started to taste. After about 7 minutes of tasting pepper, the smoke started tasting sweeter and I started to get notes that reminded me of licorice. This cigar is really tasty and satisfying my palate so far. At around the halfway mark the strength mellowed out a little bit and I started to taste graham cracker notes and the sweetness of the cocoa remained. The same notes continued throughout most of the duration of the smoke, however it did get a little bitter towards the end and burned a little hot but it could have been my fault since I do have to do other work related tasks while reviewing cigars.

Overall this cigar was enjoyable for me and I definitely recommend that you check it out next time you come into the shop! Ask about Under Crown 10, We carry 3 sizes and we are sure to find something to suit your palate!
