This week I am going to be reviewing the Red Meat Lover’s Club Cigar. This cigar is special because I have known the president of the Red Meat Lover’s club, Evan Darnell  for a few years now and have smoked this cigar prior to it becoming a national release.

The Red Meat Lover’s club is Florida based with a national following and is an eating club that raises money for Philanthropic causes by throwing dinners and holding silent auctions with many of these dinners being cigar friendly. I have been privileged to attend a couple of these dinners during The Great Smoke in West Palm Beach and have gotten to see first hand the planning and thought that goes into these dinners.

The Red Meat Lovers Club cigar is made by Steve Saka with Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust and is now a national release and a regular production cigar. The Red Meat Lover’s cigar is definitely for the fans of full bodied cigars, the kind of cigar that you smoke after a big steak dinner!

I decided to review the Filet Mignon size which is 5×54 and boxed pressed. Upon lighting the cigar and taking my first puff I tasted some strong black pepper notes with earthiness on the back end. I also tasted hints of clove and leather as I kept puffing away. This is a really robust cigar on the palette which makes sense because it was blended for Meat Loving people to smoke during or after consuming Red Meat.

After about 10 minutes of smoking this cigar I started to taste some sweet and nutty notes with an intense hit of pepper on the back end that almost made my eyes water when I retrohale. I also got some sweet Cinnamon notes at around the halfway point of smoking this cigar and even a little creaminess on the finish for just a short amount of time.

The ash consistently held on pretty well while smoking and didn’t randomly drop until I was ready to ash in the ashtray. Towards the end of the smoke it mellowed out just a little bit, and it ended with more sweet notes in the background along with pepper and a little more clove. I even tasted a little bit of earthiness to end it out.

Are you a fan of full bodied cigars? You definitely need to come in and ask about the Red Meat Lover’s Cigar! It is located with the rest of Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust cigars and definitely needs to be added to your rotation on a regular basis!
